The thing about staying in Liptovský Ján is that you’re perfectly positioned for exploring the Low Tatras without dealing with the bustle of bigger resort towns. You know what I love about this area? It’s authentic Slovak countryside — rolling hills, traditional architecture, and locals who actually wave when you drive by. The parking situation is refreshingly simple (just pull up), and you’re maybe 20 minutes from some serious hiking trails if that’s your thing.

My room was spotless — and I mean that in the best possible way. Everything felt fresh and well-maintained, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in smaller Slovak properties. The furnishings strike that perfect balance between traditional Slovak charm and modern comfort. I particularly appreciated the attention to detail in the bathroom — good water pressure, plenty of hot water, and towels that were actually fluffy rather than those thin hotel ones you sometimes get.

The restaurant here deserves special mention because they’re doing something right with traditional Slovak cuisine. I had the goulash one evening, and it was the kind of hearty, authentic meal that makes you understand why this region’s food culture has lasted centuries. The portions are generous — actually, maybe too generous if you’re planning to hike the next day. The staff clearly takes pride in their cooking, and you can taste the difference when ingredients are locally sourced.
