Walking up to Hotel Akvamarín in Bešeňová, you’ll notice it has that relaxed mountain vibe that immediately puts you at ease. The building itself isn’t flashy, but there’s something appealing about its understated elegance — it feels more like a well-designed retreat than a typical hotel. The staff genuinely seemed happy to see me, which honestly isn’t something you encounter everywhere in Slovakia.

Location & The Thermal Springs

Here’s what most people don’t realize until they get here — Bešeňová isn’t just another Slovak village. This place sits right in the heart of thermal spring country, and the hotel is literally a few minutes’ walk from the famous Bešeňová thermal pools. I mean, you can actually see the aquapark from some of the hotel windows. The four-star property is perfectly positioned if you’re planning to spend time soaking in those mineral-rich waters, but it’s also close enough to Liptovský Mikuláš that you can easily explore the wider region.

The Room Experience

My room was larger than I expected, with this nice mix of modern Slovak design and mountain lodge comfort. The bathroom was spotless, and I appreciated the attention to details — like actually good water pressure and blackout curtains that work. What struck me most was how quiet everything was at night, despite being close to the thermal complex. You know what I really liked? The balcony view toward the Low Tatras — not dramatic peaks, but those rolling forested hills that make this part of Slovakia so peaceful.

Dining & Atmosphere

The hotel restaurant serves solid Slovak cuisine with a few international options thrown in. I had the goulash one evening (couldn’t resist), and it was the real deal — not the touristy version you sometimes get. Breakfast was more extensive than I anticipated, with local cheeses and cold cuts alongside the usual continental spread. The dining room has these big windows that let in tons of natural light, making even rainy mornings feel pleasant.

What really sets Hotel Akvamarín apart is how it balances being close to the action without feeling crowded or touristy. Families love the easy access to the thermal pools, but couples also appreciate the peaceful evenings and genuinely comfortable accommodations. The spa facilities aren’t huge, but they’re well-maintained and offer a nice way to unwind after a day of hiking or thermal bathing. Plus, with that 9.3 rating, you can tell guests consistently have positive experiences here — and after staying there myself, I totally get why.
