When I first pulled up to Space Place in Yablunytsya, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. This unique boutique hotel sits right on вул. Довгий Грунь, and from the outside, it looks like someone took a regular building and decided to make it into something completely different. There’s this quirky, almost futuristic vibe that immediately tells you this isn’t your typical mountain getaway spot.

The Design Story

Walking inside, you realize the name isn’t just clever marketing — they actually committed to the space theme. The lobby has these interesting geometric patterns and lighting that somehow manages to feel both modern and cozy at the same time. What I appreciate is that they didn’t go overboard with the concept; it’s more subtle nods to space rather than feeling like you’re sleeping in a planetarium. Each room has its own personality, but they all share this clean, minimalist aesthetic that actually works really well in the Carpathian setting.

Location & Mountain Access

Here’s what’s great about Yablunytsya — you’re basically in the heart of the Carpathians without dealing with the crowds of Bukovel proper. Space Place sits in this sweet spot where you can walk to local spots, but you’re also just a short drive from the main ski areas if that’s your thing. The surrounding area has this authentic Ukrainian mountain village feel that you don’t get in the more touristy areas.

What Makes It Special

The staff here genuinely seems to care about creating something different. They’ve got this small restaurant that serves local dishes with a modern twist — I mean, where else are you going to get traditional Hutsul food presented like it’s from the future? The whole place feels like a passion project, and that shows in the details. The common areas have these comfortable spots where you can actually relax, and there’s decent parking which, trust me, matters when you’re navigating mountain roads.

With a 9.3 rating, Space Place is clearly doing something right. I think it’s the combination of being genuinely unique without being gimmicky, plus the fact that it feels authentically Ukrainian rather than trying to copy some international hotel chain. The location gives you access to both nature and local culture, and the design creates this calm, almost meditative atmosphere that’s perfect after a day of hiking or exploring the region. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned because it just feels right.
